14 Months!

Lucas, you are a talking machine. You have added many words to your vocabulary! You are now saying mommy and daddy/dada consistently. You say apple and bible beautifully. You also say pop and bubbles, bye-bye, all done, I'll get it, eeww, up, teeth...and a few more that I cannot think of right now. You understand a lot of things and are able to get most of your toys/stuffed animals when daddy and I ask you to get one of them. You are wearing size 18-24 month clothes now and still size 4 diapers. You are eating great and eat most things. You used to love carrots and sweet potatoes, but you are not a fan at this time. Your favorites are green beans and broccoli...and of course you love any kind of chicken. You love to dance/jump, laugh, brush your teeth, read books, and take a bath. Your favorite thing to do is to go outside! You are so sweet and have watched me water blueberry bushes..and one day you got the pail I used to water the bushes by yourself and went to the backyard to water them without me saying anything. So smart!
The church surprised us with a trip to Gatlinburg, TN for pastor's appreciation month and it was wonderful! You had a great time! We went to Ripley's aquarium the first full day and you loved it. You wanted to run around and show daddy and me everything. You especially loved the penguins. That night we ate at The Alamo and it was really good. You ate salmon and broccoli. Every morning we went down for a full breakfast. You mostly ate toast (which is your absolute favorite breakfast food) and eggs, yogurt. We stayed in a hotel with an indoor heated pool and we went swimming the next day. We bought you a float and you did not want to leave. We had planned on walking outside on main street of Gatlinburg but you were ready for a nap. I do not think you particularly liked being bundled up, but you looked so cute!

You looked like such a big boy in this picture before we went out to eat at the hotel!

We went shopping at the outlets and you had to play in the icecream truck.

We were planning on leaving Saturday morning but they were calling for lots of snow, so we left late Friday night. It actually worked out pretty well because you just slept the whole way. We were planning on stopping at a pumpkin patch on the way home, but we were not able to go this year. We will go next year and let you pick out your own pumpkin.

You had your second Thanksgiving this year, but it was the first one that you could eat at! You loved everything from the turkey, dressing, mac and cheese to the cranberry sauce!
Aunt Kacie had a birthday party and it was at Dempsey's Pizza in Clinton. You loved playing on all of the games after we ate.

Unfortunately, you got sick later that weak with the croup and you were pitiful. You woke up at 11:30 and did not go back to sleep until 4:30. I gave you an albuterol tx, but it really did not help and then I gave you Tylenol and you were able to rest some. Grandma, Daddy, and I took you to the doctor as soon as it opened the next morning. You had to have breathing treatments and a steroid shot. We had to take you back that afternoon for another breathing tx. I took the next day off of work and we were able to play and rest all day and thankfully, you felt a lot better!!

Just being sweet.

Watering the bushes for mama.

Wearing your clemson outfit to church the Sunday after they won! You were the cutest Clemson fan I've ever seen.

13 Months!

Lucas, I can no longer say, "He just turned one." I have to say you are 13 months old now! You have done a lot of new and fun things this month. Your vocabulary has exploded! You are now saying "mama, dada, hot, up the stairs, bible, bubbles." You love to hold up your hands when we ask where someone or something else and try to say "I don't know." It is pretty cute. And you use the word hot for both hot and cold temperatures. You are pretty much wearing only size 18 months clothes now. You are eating great!! You have not gagged in a really long time. If you do not like something, you just spit it out. You transitioned to whole milk beautifully and drink 24 oz each day from your sippy cup. 7 oz in the morning, 10 during the day, and 7 oz at night. You drink water with your sippy cup the rest of the day.You are wearing size 4 diapers still. You are walking...running...everywhere now! You can follow lots of different 1 step commands (bring me __, throw this in the trash, hand me your milk). You amaze me at how much you know!

You took you first trip to the zoo with the church kids. It was pretty hot that day and you had a melt down (this is only the 2nd one you have ever had...the other one was at Uncle Colby and Aunt Ashley's Wedding). You looked at the monkeys and some of the snakes, then you cried and went to sleep. We are planning on going back at Christmas time so hopefully you will have a better trip! You got a book from the gift shop and you enjoyed it on the way home.

You had your first fried chicken leg and Daddy was so excited. You LOVED it! You actually ate two that night and cried every time I tried to take it out of your mouth!

You went to the dentist for the first time this month and hated it! lol. Poor thing...you just did not like someone trying to get into your mouth. They gave you some stickers and a toothbrush and toothpaste. You have 12 teeth now! 4 of the top front, 4 bottom front, and 2 big molars on both the top and bottom. You have been waking up crying at night because I think they have been hurting you. I try to put orajel in your mouth, but you would just rather drink milk : ). You still LOVE milk, breast or whole!

Getting ready for the Clemson game. You had your game face on! No smiles!

Eating spaghetti for the first time. You loved it! You could not get it in your mouth fast enough!

This was a pic a grabbed before we went into the fair. It was your first trip to the fair and we had such a good time. Mama and Daddy usually get sick trying to ride fair rides, but we wanted to ride the merry go round with you. You really liked it and we did not get sick, so it was a winner! We walked around and went to the petting zoo exhibit, and watched the tigers. We also walked around at the exhibit area. We met some friends and you ate your 2nd sucker from Mr. Tommy. We ended the night by visiting the Davis' candy apple stand. You got a candy apple and daddy got his favorite boiled peanuts. It was a fun night!

We have some fun trips planned next month and mama and daddy cannot wait to take you on them!

12 Month Stats!

We went to the doctor for your 12 month well check this week. You had to get 5 shots and mama and daddy was not looking forward to it but you did great! You did not cry as much as I thought you would. I was going to give you some Tylenol when we got home, but you had already went to sleep and slept a lot the next day. No fever or anything with the shots thankfully!

12 Month Stats:
Weight: 20.56        (36.75 percentile)
     Height:  31 in              (88.08 percentile)
Head Circumference:  17.91 in  (32.12 percentile)

You are one tall little boy! This month you have given up crawling and love to walk/run everywhere! You are eating mostly all table food now. I have only given you baby food once or twice in the last week or two because you were sleepy and did not really feel like eating anything else. Otherwise, you have been eating regular oatmeal with whole milk for breakfast, chicken or turkey with veggies for lunch, and a meat with veggies for dinner. You drink ~24 oz of milk a day and eat yogurt, baby gold fish, puffs, and cheerios for snacks. You ate half of a banana this morning and fed it to yourself! You also ate half a piece of wheat toast and fed it to yourself. After you doctor's appointment, we ate a Red Lobster and you loved the salmon and broccoli from my plate...and of course you loved the cheese biscuits..yum! You love to point at everything a tell us what it is...even though we cannot really understand everything you say right now : ). You can say up (up the stairs), uh-oh, mama, daddy. You love to point at the light and to turn light switches on and off. Grandma said you said milk yesterday, but I have not heard it yet.  I have officially stopped pumping and you made the transition to whole milk without any problem. I am still giving you some breastmilk that was frozen, but you love both and I am soo glad! Your favorite toys are balls and sticks. You love to go outside and ride in your car and play in the sandbox. This is going to be a busy month. We are going to the zoo next week for the first time with church, going to the fair, and then going to the mountains to pick apples and a pumpkin. I cannot wait to share all of these memories with you.  You are taking one-two naps a day and go to bed around 8:45 now. You are wearing size 4 diapers, 12-18 month clothes (you are in between...12 months is a little snug and 18 months is a little big). You wear a size 5 shoe. You love to give kisses, high fives, and hugs and I love that. You give the best kisses! Mama and Daddy still look at you in amazement that God gave us this beautiful little boy. We love you so much! I cannot wait to see what adventures the next year holds...I am just so glad that I get to share them with you and your Daddy!

Riding your car around the neighborhood.

                                    .
 Playing in the sandbox.

We switched you to a new car seat. It is still facing backwards but it is the next step after the infant seat. You loved it and I know you will like it even more when we turn you around.

New camo pajamas!

You went to your first birthday party for Carson. It was at a place called Twist and Shout and it had a lot of trampolines and bouncy slides. You had so much fun!

You got your face painted for the first time with a tiger paw.

After your shots, the nurse gave you your first sucker. It was grape and you loved it!

A 12 month shirt..a little snug!

Happy first birthday to the most amazing little boy that I know!!! God has great things planned for you! You are special!

1st Birthday Party!!

You had so much fun at your birthday party! I cannot believe I have a little toddler on my hands now...not a baby anymore. You are walking around everywhere...no more crawling! Unfortunately, you had been running a fever the Thursday and Friday before your party on Saturday. I think it was just a little cold combined with teething. You did not have a fever on Saturday, but mama and daddy could tell you still did not feel your best. You were such a good sport and a good baby...little boy : ).....at your party. You had so many people come that love you and it was fun!
You were not a huge fan of your cake and I think part of it was because you were still not feeling well. You tried some of it and then starting gagging after a few minutes..but no crying. I had a little had for you to wear, but you did not want to wear it so we just stuck with the bow tie.

You had a good time opening your gifts and you loved all of the other children sitting around watching you open them.

You LOVED your car that grandma and grandpa got you. It was a huge hit and daddy took you out immediately to let you ride it.

Mama and Daddy got you your first chair to sit in. I had planned for you to sit in it while opening gifts..not sure what I was thinking. You love to stand too much!

Your cake after you played in it.

Mama, grandma, and Aunt Ashley spent a LONG time decorating for your party that Friday night. I hope you liked it! I think it turned out very cute and I loved it! I am so glad I did the "train" theme. It was perfect for a little boy!

We had ice cream and had toppings set up like different compartments of the train.

 Gift bags!

I had all of your picture printed out from the time that you were born and put them in an album for everyone to enjoy!

Your high chair. I loved the one banner that grandma made.

I printed out this blog for everyone to read through so that they could enjoy your first year of accomplishments.

The gift table...wow!

Cupcakes!

I loved the drink table. We had blueberry lemonade and cherry punch. Yum!

Grandma made a railroad sign for the party.
