We woke up early the next morning and headed to the hospital. I was feeling some tightness, but I had no clue that it was contractions. When they hooked me up to the monitor, they confirmed that I was having light contractions. At 8:00, the 1st shift nurses came in and they began to get me ready to start the pitocin. I got an IV and at 9:00, they administered a small dose of pitocin. Well, that was all that Lucas needed to get the ball rolling. I felt the need to go to the bathroom, and as I got up, my water broke. I started having contractions not long after that. They stopped the pitocin because my contractions were very close together already. I thought I would try to have a natural birth : ) BUT my contractions came on so strongly with the pitocin, I decided I wanted to enjoy the birth a little so I got an epidural. However, the epidural only numbed one side of my body, so I had to wait a little while for the anesthesiologist to come in and adjust it to numb the other side. Not long after that, I began getting really nauseous. The nurses came in and said it was time to push! I pushed for literally
about 10 minutes and out came the most beautiful baby boy that I have ever seen at 10:45! His head was so round and perfect, Dr. Hardin said he had a "c-section baby head." Despite what the ultrasound technician had told us, you were completely bald! You were a lot smaller than I expected too! 6 pounds 4 oz and 19 inches long. By the size of my belly, I thought you were at least 8 pounds : ). Lee and I were in love the minute we saw you. I just sat and cried when they gave you to me. God had answered our prayers for sure.
