8 Months Old!

You are such an active little boy these days. Pictures were almost impossible to take this month. You were a wiggle worm but Mama and Daddy tried their best! You are still in 12 month clothes. You are still eating stage 2 baby food. We have started yogurt for breakfast, oatmeal with a fruit for lunch, and a meat/vegetable combo at night. You eat the entire 4 oz now. You are still loving the puffs. You have tried the banana and strawberry/apple ones. This month you have tried ice cream and some chicken salad that was basically pureed. I also let you try pieces of bananas and strawberries (without the seeds). Daddy and I agree that your face was the funniest with the ice cream. I'm not sure if it was the fact the it was really cold or that it was sweet but you definitely were surprised by the taste. You are continuing to wave bye sometimes and love to babble. You still say "mama" in addition to "baba" and "papa." We are still working on "dada" : ). Your two top teeth have now came in and you are so cute with your four teeth. You are getting so big! You even started pulling up to stand this month. You are still not crawling but you love to get on your belly and "swim." You like it when we take your hands and go "walking." You actually do pretty well with it. One of your favorite things to do this month is to blow bubbles. I bought you some ninja turtle bubbles and you loved to pop them!

You took your first bubble bath this month and loved it!

You after you pulled yourself up for the first time.

You helping mama with the laundry. I don't think this will be your favorite chore.

Going out to eat with mama and daddy during our Friday lunch date.

Eight month old wiggle worm!

I tried giving your some puffs to see if that would help you sit still. It did not help though : ).

You love your hands and are fascinated by what they can do. You love touching different textures. We took you to Barnes and Noble and bought you lots of Touch and Feel books last Friday.

Happy Eight months old Lucas! You are growing up so fast!! We love you!

Mother's Day

This Mother's Day was the most special day to me this year. You are truly a gift and you are the reason I am a mother. I never knew the joy of being a mother until you came along and I am happy that the Lord gave you to Daddy and me. Mother's Day started early after I pumped, you were awake and ready to eat. You were sweet and gave me the sweetest smile when I picked you up out of the crib.

You and Daddy gave me my first pair of Jack Roger sandals for mother's day.
We went to church and you listened to Daddy preach. You are beginning to want to talk to Daddy while he preaches and I have to take you to the nursery. I think you just don't understand why daddy is not giving you all of the attention like he normally does.
In Sunday School, you made me the cutest candle with your footprint. It was my favorite gift that day. After church, we went out to eat at Grandma's house and then went to see Ma. We ate with Nonna the Friday before. I do not think I truly understood how much a mother loves their child until your were born. Your grandmother is the best mom to me and I now know how much she loves me and Uncle Colby and now you! I will always remember this sweet first mother's day. Thank you for making me a mom. I strive to be a Godly mama for you and I want you to love the Lord and just know how good He is to us. He has really blessed us with so much and I want you to experience His Goodness. Happy Mother's Day to Grandma, Nonna, and Ma!

First Swimming Pool and Trip to the Lake

Your first trip to the lake was not the most fun trip you ever went on (as you can see by your face in the picture). Your were not a big fan of the life jacket, but it did look very uncomfortable. We went to celebrate cousin Mitch's graduation and Uncle Deany's retirement. It was a beautiful day and we had good food and was able to visit with lots of family.

You did like splashing in the water before we went riding on the boat.
Mama and Daddy also bought you your first pool and you had the best time. You loved it! You wanted to get on our belly and start swimming and splashing.

I am glad it is getting warm outside so that we can play outside more. You love going for walks and looking around at everything.

This is before we went on our evening walk. You go to sleep most of the time before we are finished.

Uncle Colby's Graduation and Revival

Uncle Colby Graduated from Pharmacy school and we went down to Columbia to watch him during his hooding ceremony. You did SO good and we were able to watch the entire ceremony. You did say "mama" a few times during the ceremony..but I didn't mind : ). After the ceremony, we went to Outback to eat. We are so excited that Uncle Colby and Aunt Ashley will be getting married soon and moving right up the street from us!

We also had our first Spring Revival at the church since Daddy has been preaching. You were pretty cute in your overalls and hat. Dr. Davis came and we learned a lot about raising you to love the Lord. He also got us to thinking about your name and what it meant. We knew that Samuel had a special meaning (a gift from God) but I had forgotten about Lucas. We had looked it up before you were born, but I was just reminded what it meant after Dr. Davis preached and mentioned how important it is to give your children names with Godly meaning. Lucas means "giver of light" and how true that has been. You have certainly brought light to our lives and have been a gift to us. I also pray that you get saved and shine your light for God where ever He leads you and continue to be a giver of God's light to others. Dr. Davis said a sweet blessing for you when he left. We pray everyday that we are Godly examples for you and will help guide you to do the Lord's will for your life.

Going for a Walk

We went for a walk around the neighborhood and the horses were eating, so we decided to stop and take a look.

You also had your first bump on the head this week. I think it hurt me more than it did you : ). It was gone the next day.

7 Months Old!

You have been very busy doing lots of new things this month. You are in 12 month clothes now. You are now eating brunch with oatmeal and a fruit and a whole container of baby food at night. You are doing really well with your sippy cup. You did not like the "no spill" ones (of course! What fun is drinking from a cup if you cannot make a mess : ) but you loved just a plain sippy cup and now you love water. You are eating stage 2 baby food. I let you try mashed potatoes the other night and you were not a big fan. I also let you try the Gerber puffs for the first time. You have waved bye a couple of times this month too. And, the biggest milestone of all....you said your first word! Mama! Well, I know you really do not mean it right now but I still loved it. You are beginning to reach for people and Daddy loves it when you reach and love on him. My favorite time of the day is after I give you a bath and we take a book to Daddy and let him read it to you. Then, you love to sit with Daddy and fall asleep. You have a great dad by the way. I do not know how, but I continue to fall more in love with you every day. I do not know how else to describe it but what a joy it truly is to be a mother. I absolutely love it!
You are still not crawling, but go from a sitting position to your belly with no problem now. You are rolling around everywhere! Your top two teeth are coming in and they have been hurting you more than the bottom two did. Your poor gums were swollen. I can see the teeth cutting the your gums a little.

Happy 7 months old Lucas!! We love you!

1st Easter

I know I am probably biased, but you were the cutest baby on Easter this year. I found this outfit for you at a boutique in Atlanta and I loved it!

All of the Easter gifts that the sweet people from church and our family gave you. The Davis family gave you the cute Clemson bow tie, The Rochester family gave your the sweet basket with a teether and a bunny, The Petrie family gave you the key teether. Aunt Jane gave you a Peter Rabbit egg with some money and Aunt Lisa made you a cute basket with a sippy cup and a rubber duck! Aunt Ashley and Uncle Colby gave you Peter rabbit books. Can you say spoiled?

                                                                 Loving on Daddy

                                                               Mama needs loving too!

Your Easter Basket from Grandma and Grandpa

Your Easter basket from Nana and Papa

Although you received many presents and had such a good time at Easter, mama and daddy want to teach that Easter is really Resurrection Sunday and is about our Lord dying on the cross and raising up from the dead. After being a mother and knowing the love of having a son, I cannot imagine how God gave up His son Jesus for us. He loves us that much! Even though we do not deserve it. That is our focus and pray that you realize that more and more every year.
